Mechanical engineering is a discipline of engineering that applies the principles of physics and materials science for analysis, design, manufacturing and maintenance of mechanical systems. It is the branch of engineering that involves the production and usage and heat and mechanical power for the design, production, and operation of machines and tools. It is one of the oldest and broadest engineering discipline.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering has experienced, well qualified and
dedicated faculty. State-of-art laboratories and workshops form an integral part of
the Department.
The infrastructure is updated on regular basis. The Department provides
congenial environment both to the students and the faculty for ushering their
professional competency and technical proficiency.

Mechanical Engineering has all time demand and its spectrum grows with advance in other areas of Technology. Any physical system, be it power, communication, computer or machinery, has to manufactured, operated , monitored or manipulated by mechanical engineering.
In fact, no industry can run without its retinue of Mechanical engineers: be it Design, Erection, Commissioning, R & D, Production. Globalization, signing of GATT, over seas collaborations, transfer of technology etc call for high quality standards and technology up gradation at all levels in the industry, where in a Mechanical Engineer has an important role to play.
